MSP: An error occurred while opening CA PPM project in Microsoft Project

Clarity PPM On Premise Clarity PPM SaaS

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to export a project from Clarity to Microsoft Project, the user sees the below error:

"An error occurred while opening CA PPM project in Microsoft Project. Please try again."

Cause

This can happen if MSP Interface was not installed properly or was removed. 

Environment

Release : All Supported Releases

Component : CA PPM MICROSOFT PROJECT (MSP)

Resolution

  1. Check to see if the CA Clarity Addin and the CA MSP Interface are listed in the list of Programs on the machine
  2. If it's not installed, install the MSP Interface which can be downloaded in Clarity from Account Settings->Software Downloads

Note: Ensure the bit level of MSP Interface Installed matches that of Microsoft Project. (So if the user is using MSP 32 bit, the user should install the x86 Connector)
