Session Times Out After only Few Minutes in GCP Okta SSO Environment

Issue/Introduction

After logging in and working actively for a few minutes in the New User Experience (UI/UX), the session times out and you have to re-authenticate.

Cause

This is caused by the application not gently handling a network disconnect.

It is not actually related to SSO, except that it will redirect you to the SSO Error URL

A temporary loss of the network connection logs out a user of the Modern UX. This does not happen within the Classic UI. 

STEPS TO REPRODUCE: 

  1. Log in to the Modern UX on a WIFI connection
  2. Disconnect WIFI (alternatively, you may use the Browser Developer Tools and Network > Throttle Connection...)
  3. Keep a dynamic page open, like one that refreshed automatically
  4. When a behind the scenes REST call fails, the user will be sent to the SSO Error or Logout URL
  5. The user will get logged out of the Modern UX 

Expected Results: The application provides a message to the user to check their connection and try again. 

Actual Results: The user is logged out of the UI with no explanation, or a chance to try again.

Defect DE60301

Will be fixed post 15.9.2 

Workaround: Click the button Back on the browser once connection is restored.
