Issue/Introduction

Temporary ** WORK TAPE ** datasets on tape are in Scratch status before, during and after use in IBM VTS:

Work tape was created on day1.

2 days later a job  ran requesting a scratch and the same tape was mounted . The job abended IECTMS3 NOTSCR32

IECTMS3 NOTSCR32 - from BROADCOM - (The volume record in the TMC has an expiration date in the future, or the scratch indicator is not on)

Resolution

For IBM Virtual Tape Server (VTS) we recommend you have
WRKFLS=NO -- Set in TMOOPTxx member of CTAPOPTN. This causes CA 1 to assign a 1-day retention to all work files.
