Issue/Introduction

The CA Dispatch started task program CAISYS01 was identified as using USERKEYCSA storage.

How can the CA Dispatch associated programs be prevented from using the USERKEYCSA storage?

Environment

11.6, 11.7, CA Dispatch, IDMS, z/OS, CAISYS01, XTARMAIN, XTEXMAIN, CAIOLV

Resolution

CA Dispatch uses an IDMS database. Inherently, due to the way IDMS functions, you can NOT prevent the CA Dispatch related programs from using USERKEYCSA storage.

Additionally...

Dispatch is configured with a  default storage protection key (CVKEY) of 8.  Since you can not prevent Dispatch's usage of USERKEYCSA storage, if you are running Dispatch in a z/OS 2.4 or higher environment where you can no longer use ALLOWUSERKEYCSA(YES),  you must change the storage protection key that the Dispatch programs run in.

Valid values for Dispatch storage protection keys, in a ALLOWUSERKEYCSA(NO) environment, should be 0 through 7. The ca/Broadcom Dispatch Support team recommends that our customers use a Storage Protection Key of 4 (CVKEY=4) for the Dispatch related programs. Refer to IBM documentation for additional information on Storage Protection Key usage.

Additional Information

Instructions for changing the Dispatch CVKEY are found in the following knowledge article:
