MUFPLEX MODE 'A' deprecated and no longer valid

Issue/Introduction

Datacom/AD 15.1 MUF shows:

DB01934W - MUFPLEX MODE 'A' DEPRECATED, SET 'B' 

Is there any reason why this mode has been deprecated?

Resolution

From Datacom R&D:

Mode A was faster than Mode B. But it offers zero protection, if the XCF System fails while MUF was up or the MUF itself fails in a hard way. In that case the second executing MUF will also instantly fail and both will be down. Users run with substantial overhead with MUFPLEX (not Shadow)  but it offers far superior protection when running in MODE B.

 

We strongly recommend MUFPLEX with the 'S' Shadow option that runs super fast.
