Issue/Introduction

Does Log Analyzer for Db2 for z/OS (PLA) have the ability to read the Bootstrap Dataset (BSDS) from an archive as opposed to the
currently allocated BSDS on DASD? Requirement to dump the first file on tape that has the BSDS from an archive and have PLA access this BSDS.

Resolution

PLA does not have the ability to access a BSDS other than the currently allocated VSAM on DASD. However, JCL can be coded
that will create a VSAM file (BSDS) and then REPRO the data into a VSAM BSDS that PLA can access. PLA does have that ability
via the Report Source Specifications panel to specify Source of DB2 Log Data : BSDS Specify Other Source ==> Y
where L - Active/Archive Log(s) can be specified.
