Environment

Symantec Endpoint Protection with macOS clients running versions older than 14.3 MP1.

Resolution

Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Steps

1: From your Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager, click Client and navigate to the group you would like to upgrade. Select the Install Packages tab, and then click "Add a Client Install Package."

2: In the dialog box, select the latest Symantec Endpoint Protection 14.3 for macOS package.

3: On the Notification tab, check the "Notify users before an upgrade" and "Allow users to postpone the upgrade process" boxes, then click OK. You can also change the default notification message if you would like.

Symantec Endpoint Protection Client Steps

1: Once you receive the AutoUpgrade prompt on your macOS client, click "Install Now."

2: If an older version of Symantec Endpoint Protection is detected, click OK.

3: If access to control “Finder” is requested, click OK.

4: If you are prompted to remove System Extensions, click "Continue." You will be required to provide administrator credentials.

5: After the System Extensions are removed, the AutoUpgrade process starts. When the "System Extension Blocked" dialog box appears, click "Open Security Preferences."

6: In the "Security & Privacy" System Preferences pane, click "Allow" to allow the Symantec Endpoint Protection System Extensions to load.

7: If you are notified that enabling the system software requires a restart, click OK.

8: You will be prompted to reboot after the AutoUpgrade finishes, click "Restart Now" or "Remind Me Later" to postpone the upgrade.

9: After the restart, follow the settings wizard to configure Symantec Endpoint Protection.

Additional Information

Please note that SEP for macOS 14.3 MP1 on-premise does not support running alongside the SES Cloud macOS agent. If you would like to install SEP 14.3 MP1 on-premise, please fully uninstall the SES Cloud Agent and then do a fresh install for SEP 14.3 MP1. In addition, an on-premise SEPM or installer cannot perform upgrades on SES Cloud agents. If you wish to upgrade a SES Cloud agent, please upgrade it from your SES console. Alternatively, you can uninstall SES and then install 14.3 MP1 on-premise if you would like to make the client on-premise managed.
