Issue/Introduction

Sluggish performance accessing and creating/running Adhoc Views/Reports

Environment

Release : All Supported Releases

Component : CA PPM SAAS JASPERSOFT

Resolution

  1. Limit fields added from the domain in Ad Hoc Views
    • Don't select all fields, and limit the amount of fields added
    • You can update fields in the adhoc view later on as needed using the below steps
      • Click on the Ad Hoc View
      • Click on the icon to the right of the Domain in the top right hand corner of the view

      • Click on 'Select Fields' from the drop down
      • From here you can update the fields that show on the report

     2. Limit the Size of Crosstab Ad Hoc Views.

  • As referenced in Best Practices for Ad Hoc Views:
    • The Crosstab ad hoc views are more complex with aggregations and calculation functions, so they generally perform slower than table or chart views.
    • When building and using crosstab views, limit the size of your views whenever possible to improve performance.

     3. Create Ad Hoc Views in No Data Mode

  • Change the drop down as shown in the below example to No Data (or Sample Data)
  • Once your view is complete, as referenced in Best Practices for Ad Hoc Views, you can switch to Full Data mode.
