Issue/Introduction

Description:

The failing inquiry ends with RC=8 as shown in the MICS log by the following message:

ICF01073I SAS ENDED WITH RC=8.

SAS syntax or other errors can also be found in the SAS log of the inquiry's execution such as the following:

WARNING: Argument 2 to macro function %SUBSTR is out of range.
WARNING: Argument 3 to macro function %SUBSTR is out of range.

Solution:

Go back to the jobstream's Inquiry Selection Options panel, select option 1 - Display Defined Inquiries, enter the E Exec-Time line command for the failing inquiry, and supply the needed parameters.

Note that just the standard parameters (no tailoring of parameters) will eliminate this problem.
