Issue/Introduction

Critical alarm not raised if multiple events received before Event Pair timer expires in Spectrum

For example, the Event Pair rule is configured as follows:

When event "A" is received, if event "B" is not received within 5 minutes, generate Event "C".

So, event "A" is received and Spectrum starts the 5 minute timer. While this is occurring, if another event "A" is received before the time from the previous event "A" expires, Spectrum does not start a new 5 minute timer for this second event "A".

Environment

Release : Any

Component : Spectrum Events and Alarms

Resolution

This is functioning as designed.

After the first trigger event is received from Spectrum that starts an event pair rule, any subsequent trigger events that come in during the timer are not treated as new trigger events for a new event pair rule.
