Issue/Introduction

When accessing Identity Portal via an F5 Load Balancer, the login page fails to load the credentials form, resulting in an infinite spinning icon. This issue occurs specifically through the Load Balancer URL, while direct access to the backend server URL functions correctly.

Environment

Identity Portal 14.5

Cause

The failure is caused by an F5 HTTP redirection rule or iRule that forces incorrect traffic routing, preventing the Identity Portal login components from initializing.

Resolution

1. Verify Backend Connectivity

  1. Access the Identity Portal directly using the server IP/Hostname and port (e.g., http://:8080/sigma).
  2. If the login form appears correctly, the issue is isolated to the Load Balancer configuration.

2. Audit Load Balancer Rules

  1. Review the F5 Virtual Server configuration for active iRules or LTM Policies.
  2. Identify rules performing HTTP-to-HTTPS redirection or URL rewrites that may conflict with Identity Portal paths.
  3. Temporarily disable suspicious redirection rules to confirm if the login page loads.

3. Confirm Session Affinity

  1. Ensure that the F5 Load Balancer is configured with Source Address Persistence.
  2. Verify that session affinity is maintained across all three portal nodes to prevent session dropouts during the login handshake.
