Issue/Introduction

Seeing WebSphere PMI Percent Maxed is enabled from WebSphere side but still showing 0 (count) in APM.

Environment

Release : 10.7.0

Component : APM Agents

Resolution

1) In the WebSphere Admin Console, customer had set to capture basic PMI threadpool metrics. This will only display two of the five PMI threadpool metrics shown above. o resolve , set custom metrics to capture PercentMaxed and PercentUsed as shown above.

2) There was confusion on what these metrics mean. While both should be alerted, PercentMaxed only has a non-zero value ONLY if the threads in Use is maxed out. For most cases, alerting on PercentUsed may make more sense. So the former is an alert metric while the latter is more of an information metric,

Additional Information

Also see https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/30367/websphere-pmi-thread-pool-metrics-missin.html. PercentMaxed did not have a count of zero . But did have a value of zero
