MSP Project dialog box pop up due to MSP Update Missing

Issue/Introduction

• Project plan will not open in MS Project 2016
• Symptoms may include:
  • The last time you opened 'ProjectID' it caused a serious error. Do you still want to open it
  • Project dialog box pops up with a list of projects from Clarity
  • User selects the project from the dialog window but it still won't open - Project hangs at writing to xml
  • Or sometimes user gets "An error occurred while openings the CA PPM project in Microsoft Project, please try again"

Environment

Release : All Supported Releases

Component : CA PPM MICROSOFT PROJECT (MSP)

Cause

This can be due to a Microsoft Project defect fixed in a later MSP Update. 

Resolution

• Ensure you have a supported MSP Update (KB4484345 resolved the issue for one user)
• It's recommended to upgrade to the latest MSP Update as this will have the most issues fixes since updates are cumulative.
