Issue/Introduction

This case is actually the second I open for this issue. Basically, I have dragged and drop the cdm probe onto our AIX node. I have not setup yet the monitoring. But when checking the list of devices in the Admin Console, I see devices that do not exist on the node and receive many alarms for hdisks that DO NOT exist. For example, 'Device hdisknn is not available'

Environment

Release : 9.2.0

Component : UIM - CDM WITH IOSTAT

Resolution

To clear out everything and force cdm to rediscover mounted filesystems,

Use this in the cdm package (merge it with your existing package or use a separate package to clear the disks).

<disk> overwrite
<alarm>
<fixed> clear
</fixed>
</alarm>
</disk>

Steps we followed for the cdm probe on AIX robot.

  1. Deactivated cdm
  2. Acknowledged all of the cdm hdisk* alarms for tge given robot
  3. Renamed the cdm dir to cdm.save
  4. Deleted the cdm directory
  5. Deployed cdm v6.50 anew
  6. Deployed your original package
  7. Deployed new package to specifically clear the disk section
  8. Restarted cdm
  9. Cold started cdm
We saw NO hdisk alarms in the IM alarm subconsole.
