Using z/OSMF classic (or tree-style) interface.

Steps to register a software instance using the z/OSMF classic (or tree-style) interface.

Go to start of metadata

Select Software > Software Management in the left-hand menu and then click on Software Instances link in the Software Management tab.

A table with existing Software Instances appears. To add new Software Instance, click on Actions button and select Add… from the drop-down menu.

Then follow the wizard to register new Software Instance which represents your CSI. You would need to provide following information:

  • Name: The name of your new Software Instance. You will identify your SMP/E Environment by this name in z/OSMF.
  • System: The system where your CSI resides.
  • Global Zone CSI: The data set name of your CSI. It must end with “.CSI”.
  • Target zones: Select all target zones which are present in your CSI.

After the wizard is finished successfully, you should see your new Software Instance in the table of all Software Instances.
