Issue/Introduction

Steps to register a software instance using the z/OSMF classic (or tree-style) interface.

Release : 6.0

Component : Chorus Software Manager

Resolution

  1. Select Software > Software Management in the left-hand menu and then click on Software Instances link in the Software Management tab.
  2. A table with existing Software Instances appears. To add new Software Instance, click on Actions button and select Add… from the drop-down menu.
  3. Then follow the wizard to register new Software Instance which represents your CSI. You would need to provide following information:
    1. Name: The name of your new Software Instance. You will identify your SMP/E Environment by this name in z/OSMF.
    2. System: The system where your CSI resides.
    3. Global Zone CSI: The data set name of your CSI. It must end with “.CSI”.
    4. Target zones: Select all target zones which are present in your CSI.
  4. After the wizard is finished successfully, you should see your new Software Instance in the table of all Software Instances.

Additional Information

The z/OSMF desktop is the user interface (UI) for interacting with z/OSMF. It replaces the z/OSMF classic (or tree-style) interface, which is obsolete.
