Issue/Introduction

We are attempting to deploy Identity Portal on a Linux based JBOSS deployment, against oracle 19c which is failing with a 'Failed to Connect to Identity Portal database'

While the installation logs appear to show the database connection was successful:

This is failing after attempting to install using the patched sigma.war file from the hotfix described in the documentation:

https://techdocs.broadcom.com/content/broadcom/techdocs/us/en/ca-enterprise-software/layer7-identity-and-access-management/identity-portal/14-3/installing/installing-ca-identity-portal/ca-identity-portal-installation/installing-ca-identity-portal-on-jboss.html

Environment

Release : 14.3

Component : Portal

Resolution

The 'Failed to Connect to Identity Portal database' error messages is misleading, the issue ultimately was due to a special character in the JBOSS admin password, specifically the greater than sign " >" .

Once the JBOSS admin password was reset without the greater Than sign ">" the install completed without issue.
