Issue/Introduction

I have upgraded all my SpectroSERVERs in my distributed environment, from 10.1.1 to 10.2.1 without problems.

On the final server the upgrade exits and I find the following in the pre-install log at:

<$SPECROOT>/Install-Tools/LOGS/10.2.1.0.98_xxxx/preinst.xx.xx

sed: error while loading shared libraries: /opt/CA/Spectrum/lib/libpcre.so.1: file too short

** Error: Unable to interpret installation command

Install-Tools/preinst_engine: line 273: cd: HOME not set

Installation Exiting:Wed Oct 25 13:04:58 BST 2017

Why does my upgrade exit with errors  "file too short " and "** Error: Unable to interpret installation command on this one server?

Environment

Release : 10.4.1

Component : Spectrum Core / SpectroSERVER

Cause

The hard disk was full so the upgrade failed.

/dev/mapper/vg_sys-optvol 12277760 12252188 25572 100% /opt

Resolution

Required disk space during upgrade will depend on various factors so it is difficult to specify a recommendation for this.
Stand alone systems with OC and SRM will require more than space than just an SS for example.
The size of database also will vary and If changes are made to a mySQL on upgrade, there may be a lot of information cached during upgrade.
We recommend that a minimum of 100 GB be available.but it will vary.  On test systems, it is not as important but 10 GB free space should a minimum.
