In the Project New UX, under Staff or Assignment, the Per Period Metrics - Using Weekly is pulling from Fiscal Weekly Time Periods.
Does it mean we need to set up the Fiscal Time Periods at Weekly level. Any reason for this design?

This is by design.
All the values for Per-Period-Metrics use the Fiscal Periods.
Therefore make sure you have Weekly Fiscal Periods set up if you want to see weekly in the views.

You will have to configure your default entity, as it will be used by the entire per-period metrics in New UX.
