Issue/Introduction
Can MFA be implemented without adding FACTOR or USER MAPPING to an ACID?
Is it sufficient to stop there or must FACTOR and USER MAPPING OCCUR in order to successfully implement MFA?
Environment
Release : 16.0
Component : CA Top Secret for z/OS
Resolution
FACTOR tells Top Secret what method of multifactor authentication you will be using.
Example: Key Card, token, code.
Multiple factors is used if a site uses multiple multifactor authentication methods.
Example: A key card to gain entrance to a room. Using passcodes or tokens to signon to an application running on the mainframe.
The USER MAPPINGS maps an id on the mainframe to whatever multifactor authentication server is being used for tokens, pass codes, key cards.
Both are required.
