SAP R3 account exploration returns zero results during Explore and Correlate - Identity Manager

Issue/Introduction

When performing an "Explore and Correlate" operation on a SAP R3 endpoint, the connector may successfully find Roles and Profiles but return zero (0) results for Accounts, even if accounts exist on the target system.

Environment

Identity Manager 14.x

Cause

This issue is caused by a defect in how specific SAP Netweaver environments handle the MAX_OF_ROWS=0 parameter in the BAPI_HELPVALUES_GET function. In affected environments, the value 0 is interpreted literally (returning zero results) rather than as "unlimited."

Resolution

The fix for this behavior is maintained by SAP.

1. Reference SAP Note: 2007861 to apply the appropriate patch to your SAP landscape.
2. To isolate the issue, test the BAPI_HELPVALUES_GET function directly in the SAP GUI with the following parameters:
   • OBJTYPE: USER
   • METHOD: GETDETAIL
   • PARAMETER: USERNAME
   • MAX_OF_ROWS: 0
3. If the SAP GUI test returns 0 results, the issue resides within the SAP landscape.
