Issue/Introduction

Description:

Chorus Software Manager requires a MUF to run, where the CSM data is stored. It is not always clear how to use and maintain that MUF.

Solution:

As part of the CSM install, a MUF is created for the use of CSM. Our Sustaining Engineering and Development departments recommend not sharing the CSM MUF with any other products. That may change in the future but for now it should be reserved for CSM. In general, this MUF is delivered at a Datacom maintenance level which is compatible with the release of CSM that is being installed. The release level of this CSM MUF should not be upgraded. When a new release of CSM is installed, then the MUF will be upgraded to the Datacom support level that is consistent with that release of CSM.

When you are doing an upgrade, and identifying the using product databases for procedures like backup, restore, etc, you should not include the CSM databases in that list. CSM has its own backup & restore procedures that are independent from how the other databases are managed. So whenever maintenance is done to MUFs, the databases used by CSM should not be included in those procedures.
