When trying to discover a device simulated using MIMIC SNMP Simulator and SNMPv3 the discovery would fail stating that it could not be reached via SNMP. Switching to SNMPv2 allows the device to be discovered.
Release : 10.x
Component : Spectrum Core / SpectroSERVER
When performing a discovery using SNMPv3, the SpectroSERVER will send an empty v3 get-request and will process the returned report pdu obtaining the SNMP Engine ID, Engine Time, and Engine Boot Count required to poll a remote device. The MIMIC software did not respond to the empty get-request leaving the SpectroSERVER unable to communicate with the device.
MIMIC support and they provided a configuration update that allowed to respond to Spectrum’s initial blank v3 requests.
