ACF2 ACF2 for zVM ACF2 - z/OS

Issue/Introduction

The ACFA transaction has been renamed to ACFZ.

The TERMACT parm has been modified (INITIAL TERMACT=ACFZ).

Are there any other places where ACFA needs to be changed to ACFZ in this instance?

Is there a way to tell if ACF2 is somehow still firing (generating) the ACFA transaction?

Is there also any way in the active system to prove that ACFZ is being used (as opposed to ACFA) or better yet prove what software is launching the ACFA transaction?

Resolution

Perform the following checks to verify changes:

  1. ACFM OM INI to verify that TERMACT=ACFZ
  2. CEMT INQ TRAN(ACFZ) and make sure it is associated with pgm CAKSLOCK.
  3. CEMT INQ TRAN(ACFA) and ensure that it is associated with your application program.

The ACFS (scan) transaction will run every TIMEOUT= minutes, so if that is zero then there will be no scans. ACFA is STARTed against the idle terminal when the ACFS finds one to be timed out. With TIMEOUT=0 would expect no ACFS or ACFA transactions.

It is possible to request CICS to take a transaction dump to verify usage.

Use counts on the programs from CEMT INQs may also be checked to see if the programs have been used.
