Subscription updates do not reflect dates newer than 4/29

Issue/Introduction

Between April 29, 2020 and May 4, 2020, Content Analysis customers may have experienced a period of stale patterns supplied by subscription.es.bluecoat.com. During this time, the service did not supply new pattern files for Kaspersky, McAfee, or Sophos. This was resolved on May 4, 2020.

Cause

Root Cause

While preparing to migrate the content delivery to new data centers, a script, which synchronizes the data between data center  locations, was modified. An error within the script was made preventing the script for operation properly.

Under normal operating circumstances, monitoring systems are able to alert when file patterns in any location are not up to date. It was determined that a recent migration to a newer monitoring platform had not implemented the tests for file age. As a result, we did not receive the expected alerts.

The scripting error was corrected, and the patterns have been up to date since this incident.

Resolution

The updates resumed on May 4th. The first new update download may take some time due to the amount of data.
