Issue/Introduction

  • When attempting to create a manual cost plan on a project in the modern User Experience (UX) receive Error:
An error occurred while creating the Cost Plan
  • I am able to create a project cost plan with the default (monthly) period type.
  • Issue doesn't happen in Classic PPM UI, you are able to create a project cost plan with quarterly or annual period types.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Log in to Clarity PPM with appropriate rights
  2. Navigate to a project in the New UX
  3. Click on Financials channel
  4. On Cost Plans, click ‘New Plan’
  5. Enter Plan Name = test3
  6. Select Period Type = Quarterly
  7. Start Period = (leave default)
  8. Finish Period = Change to a different quarter past the Start Period (IE Q3-2021)
  9. Grouping Attributes = Cost Type
  10. Click Create

Expected Result: Cost plan is created with quarterly slices for period range

Actual Result: Cost plan is not created.  Error: An error occurred while creating the Cost Plan. Error in app-ca.logs:

Environment

Release : 15.7, 15.7.1

Component : CA PPM Financial Management

Cause

  • This happens when you change the period type, but leave the Start Period and/or Finish Period as the auto selected value (the first available period for that type)

Resolution

This issue is fixed in Clarity PPM 15.8 patch 1

Workaround:
  • Click on the Start and Finish period drop downs and select a different period for both
  • Then from the drop downs change the period back as needed to your intended selection
