Issue/Introduction

The global notification default settings are unexpectedly being changed to all blank.  After publishing the settings back to all enabled, they turn off again at some point throughout the day.  How is this happening?

Environment

Release : 15.4.1

Component : CA PPM SAAS APPLICATION

Resolution

The notification settings will not automatically get disabled by the system. To find out who is disabling them, the app-access logs can be referenced. The line item for a user going into the Administration - Notifications page and saving a change will look similar to this:

10.45.32.26|[01/Jan/2020:15:01:38 -0700]|POST /niku/nu?uitk.vxml.form=1&action=nmc.notificationSave&actionType=SAVE&uitk.navigation.location=Workspace&uitk.navigation.parent.location=Workspace&uitk.navigation.last.workspace.action=nmc.notifications HTTP/1.1|200|4877|190|12345678__1EE2F34D-5AF6-7891-B234-567CD8912CFD

Where the '12345678__1EE2F34D-5AF6-7891-B234-567CD8912CFD' towards the end is the session ID of the user performing the action. Using the session ID, the CMN_SESSIONS and CMN_SESSION_AUDITS tables can be queried to find the associated user. If the Clean User Sessions job has run since the time that the action was completed, the session will no longer exist in these tables. When the session no longer exists in these tables, another way to determine what user the session belonged to is to review other actions performed by this same user session in the app-access log, in addition to other logs, such as the app-ca logs.
