Can SCDS be split in two so we can separate production and test?

Component : CA SMF Director
Resolution
1) Take a back up of the SCDS
2) Allocate a new SCDS file for the test file
3) Restore the backup from step 1 into the new file
4) use the DELETE control statement to delete the test systems from production and the production systems from test.
