Issue/Introduction

TMSCLEAN ran but the tape volume records are still not marked as scratch even though the expiry date (EXPDT field)  for the dataset has passed and the dataset is no longer catalogued in the OS Catalog

Cause

OUTCODE field on the volume record contained a value indicating the tape was marked as 'vaulted ' or offsite.

Resolution

A volume is considered eligible for scratch if the expiration date for File 1 is less than or equal to the execution date and the OUTCODE field contains hexadecimal zeros or a blank in the first position (but not (blank)LIB).

As a fyi this information is documented in the UTILITIES GUIDE under TMSCLEAN section:  Scratch and Clean Listing
