Issue/Introduction

One Vertica node stuck in an UNKNOWN state with the remaining nodes UP

One Vertica node stuck and continually shuts down for no apparent reason

Resolution

1. Attempt to access the node via SSH
2. Attempt to access adminTools on the node
3. Attempt to stop the node via the option Stop Vertica on Host in adminTools
4. Attempt to kill the node via the option Kill Vertica on Host in adminTools

If after the above, the node state shows DOWN, you can move forward and try to start the now DOWN node:

1. In adminTools use Restart Vertica on Host
2. If the above fails, utilize a force start of the node: ./adminTools -t restart_node -F -s <node_IP_Address> -d drdata
