Issue/Introduction

One Vertica node stuck in an UNKNOWN state with the remaining nodes UP

Environment

Release : 3.7

Component : IM Reporting / Admin / Configuration

Resolution

1. Attempt to access the Unknown node via SSH
2. Attempt to access adminTools on the Unknown node
3. Attempt to stop the Unknown node via the option Stop Vertica on Host in adminTools
4. Attempt to kill the Unknown node via the option Kill Vertica on Host in adminTools

If after the above, the Database state shows DOWN, you can move forward and try to start the now DOWN node:

1. In adminTools use Restart Vertica on Host
2. If the above fails, utilize a force start of the node: ./adminTools -t restart_node -F -s <node_IP_Address> -d drdata
