Issue/Introduction

Attempting to capture device config with Network Configuration Manager (NCM) where a few Device Families have their Primary communication mode set to SNMP and Secondary communication mode set to SSH. Scripts are enabled for SSH. 

When attempting to capture on SNMP, the following error is shown:

SPC-NCM-20007: Capture Running Script Returned Error [252]: Login Error: Host <ip_address>: Login has failed. Didn't see device prompt as expected. Possibly due to wrong credentials.

DX NetOps Spectrum all releases

Cause

- Using both SNMP and SSH communication modes on the same device family is not supported. Setting scripts for SSH mode disables SNMP communication. 

Resolution

  • Choose which mode to use for communication to the devices within the Device Family

  • If SNMP is chosen to be the Primary mode, disable SSH mode by removing any configured scripts. For example:
