Data Loss Prevention Endpoint Prevent Data Loss Prevention

Issue/Introduction

The EDPA service for Symantec Data Loss Prevention (DLP) does not start on Microsoft Surface Pro 7 Tablets.

The EDPA service is set to Automatic, but it will not start. Manual attempts to start the EDPA service fail with these errors, logs, and other symptoms:

  • Windows could not start the EDPA service.
  • Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
  • Event ID 7009 error in the System Event Log: A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the EDPA service to connect.
  • Event ID 1000 error in the Application Event Log

Uninstalling and reinstalling the Endpoint Agent does not resolve this issue.
