Issue/Introduction

Creation of directory /cai/CASoftware/CCS150 failed. Reason: Group is not defined.
com.ca.mf20.zos.services.dataset.errors.AllocationError: Directory /cai/CASoftware/CCS150 was not created. Internal Message Log not available.Initial cause: com.ca.mf20.errors.USSGeneralError: action="getgrnam_r", errno=163, errno2=B370800, info="group name: SRMSTRC", strErrno="EDC5163I SAF/RACF extract error."

Resolution

On the base install wizard step 5 target zone 3/3 there are file owner and group owner fields. The value specified in the group name field, in this example: SRMSTRC was entered as the group owner is not defined to RACF.  

Please go into OMVS and enter command "id". It should be lower case. This is an example:
# id
uid=0(uxxxx1) gid=137(gxxxx1) groups=3(AWORKSG),84(ESDGRP),85(MSMGRP)

Note the uid and gid values and redo the install using them.
