SYSVIEW Performance Management

Issue/Introduction

Need confirmation about the timescale / period refresh for QHWM in the MQQPERF command and whether the figure is accurately reported on shared queues.

About the Started Master Tasks, one of the Queue Manager has a shared queue which reports with a curdepth of 408

However, in SYSVIEW and the MQQPERF command its shown with a QHWM value of zero in this case in the other Queue Manager.

Environment

SYSVIEW 15.0 & 16.0 - z/OS supported releases -

Resolution

The documentation shows PARMLIB member MQSERIES has:

QLOCAL-GET-TRUE-SHARED-DEPTH     YES
)EOF

If this is occurring for shared queues, then if the message was put on the queue by a qmgr on a remote system, the qmgr on the local system will not reflect the proper depth.

The only way around this is to specify YES on the undocumented parameter:

QLOCAL-GET-TRUE-SHARED-DEPTH   YES

which will need to be placed in the SYSVIEW parmlib member MQSDATA.

This will force the command to issue an MQSC command to get queue depth's for shared queues.

The QHWM should be getting updated every 2 minutes as the MQS-QUEUES data collection is run every 2 minutes.
