Response to CTS999D /CTS998E failsafe messages once CA1 active.

Issue/Introduction

Sometimes we get a job submitted that starts before TMS is initialized   We have the Failsafe Usermod installed and CA 1 issues message CTS999D with either CTS997E or CTS998E. An example of the one of the messages issued (CTS998E) follows:

CA TAPE MGMT INTERCEPTS ARE NOT ACTIVE!! TAPES ARE NOT PROTECTED AND TAPE ACTIVITY IS NOT BEING RECORDED! CTS999D WILL BE ISSUED FOR EACH TAPE MOUNT, REPLY U, M, OR C.

U TO USE THE TAPE WITHOUT TAPE MANAGEMENT.

C TO CANCEL THE JOB WITH A USER 222.

M TO REJECT THE TAPE.

Once TMS is up, is there a reply  we can use to let the job continue WITH (using) TMS / CA1 ?

Would a reply of 'U' just bypass TMS processing (even if TMSINIT ran)?

Yes, once CA1 is active when you reply U then the TMC will be updated accordingly
