Issue/Introduction

Can  I just drop nas_transaction_log table in our production environment as it is consuming 642 GB? Plan is as below.

1) deactivate NAS probe

2) run the query "DROP TABLE NAS_TRANSACTION_LOG" to drop the table.

3)Activate NAS probe

By performing the above activity, i expect only the transaction history of the alarms will be lost and there will be no duplicate alerts and does not affect the active alarms. Can you please confirm this.

Resolution

Do not drop only the nas_transaction_log table as that could cause problems. Instead you could either run a delete statement and delete rows from that table based on a given date or TRUNCATE the table, but here is a more solid and potentially permanent approach for you to consider which enables the nas housekeeping to complete its run and in turn minimizes the size of that table over time.
