Could you please explain the difference between Software Gateway and Appliance Gateway and also how to find which gateway we are using?

Resolution

The difference between a software and an appliance GW is the form factor. A software GW form factor involves standing up a supported OS and installing the software and other necessary components to run a gateway.

An appliance GW form factor involves deploying an OVA on VMWare that contains the necessary components to run a gateway.

If you sign into the GW server using the 'ssgconfig' user, then it is an appliance GW. Otherwise, it is a software GW.
