Issue/Introduction

This article includes information about how to successfully block internet bound network traffic being created by the Microsoft Edge browser.

Cause

The Chromium-based Microsoft Edge internet browser creates 3 different unique processes that will generate internet bound network traffic. To successfully block Microsoft Edge from being able to send internet traffic via the Endpoint Protection firewall, all 3 processes must be listed in the Application section of the firewall rule.

Resolution

List all 3 of the following in the Application section of the firewall rule:

1. MicrosoftEdge.exe
2. MicrosoftEdgeCP.exe
3. MicrosoftEdgeSH.exe
