Issue/Introduction

After changing Oracle passwords for BSI users, either receive 'HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error' or error stating invalid username/password when attempting to login to the CA Business Service Insight UI

Environment

CA Business Service Insight 8.3.x and 9.x

Resolution

After you have changed the passwords of Oracle users in Oracle, you must update the Registry.xml on both the BSI Web and APP servers with the new passwords.

The registry.xml file is located in: %Cloud_Insight_Home%\Registry.xml

The egistry.xml file is encrypted and you must use the password update tool to update the passwords.

The password update tool is located in: %Cloud_Insight_Home%\Utilities\PassUpdate\PassUpdate.exe

How to use the PassUpdate tool:

1.  Open the Password update tool.

2.  For the user which you need to update the password, click the elliptical box on the right highlighted in blue in the following screenshot:

3.  The following window will open. Fill in the password and click OK.

4.  Repeat steps for all impacted users until the passwords match the passwords stored in the database.

5.  After you have updated all the passwords in the Registry.xml file with the correct ones, restart all BSI services and IIS.
