Issue/Introduction

The Java Platform Binary may crash when exiting SEPM (Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager) login screen:

"Java(TM) Platform SE Binary has stopped working" 

Environment

SEP 14.3

Cause

This has been observed in some cases where the SEPM login screen has been left open for a long time (several days).

This symptom could not be reproduced in test scenarios where Windows was current with Microsoft updates.

Resolution

Click "Close program" and continue exiting the SEPM. You should be able to re-open another instance of the SEPM console without further problem.

Make sure the hosting Windows OS is current with Microsoft updates.
