Issue/Introduction

Is there an option to redirect the opsslogd#pid file to another directory?

We are running OPS/MVS 13.5 attempting to configure the USS Syslogd Server. Our USS root directory is read only.  When OPSSLGP starts up, it gets a error message:

CAS2312E OPSSLGP  - ALTER   ACCESS DENIED 072

         /opsslogd#pid

Environment

OPS/MVS

Resolution

An alternative PID may be specified in the CA_OPS_SYSLOG-PID paramater in the ENVFILE.

More information may be found in the INSTALL THE UNIX SYSTEM SERVICES section of the Installing Guide. In release Documentation states:

The CA_OPS_SYSLOG_PID environment variable specifies the name and location of the z/OS Syslog Daemon PID file. The PID file contains the z/OD Syslog Daemon PID. The default is: /etc/syslog.pid. The PID is used to restart the z/OS Syslog Daemon after the configuration file is updated.
