CA Test Data Manager (Data Finder / Grid Tools)

Issue/Introduction

We have a need while using generators to publish data to update non-key fields. For example consider a table that has SSN as part of a primary index. When we insert more records to this table via Generator Publish, we want a. to update existing fields for some rows and b. insert new rows.

Can you please advise if we can do that and if so is there an option we need to select?

Environment

Release : 4.8

Component : CA Test Data Manager

Resolution

Reviewing the TDM documentation. If you are using TDM Portal for the Data Generation and Publishing, then please look over the Data Generation Rules (https://techdocs.broadcom.com/content/broadcom/techdocs/us/en/ca-enterprise-software/continuous-testing/test-data-management/4-9/provisioning-test-data/generate-synthetic-test-data/generate-data-using-the-ca-tdm-portal/create-data-generation-rules.html), and the Publishing Options (https://techdocs.broadcom.com/content/broadcom/techdocs/us/en/ca-enterprise-software/continuous-testing/test-data-management/4-9/provisioning-test-data/generate-synthetic-test-data/generate-data-using-the-ca-tdm-portal/publish-data-using-the-ca-tdm-portal.html)

When publishing from TDM Portal, you should find under 'Publishing Options (optional)' an Update setting, which allows the publishing job to update duplicate records found in the target database.
