When viewing the Smarttrace Formatted Packet Display, or when exporting the trace to a libpcap file, the message
*WARNING* Truncated packet appears when packets are longer than 2K (1,996 bytes).
Netmaster sets a limit of 2K on the packet information saved. Most packets are under this size, and saving many packets above 2K would utilize excessive storage and CPU within the product, causing potential problems.
For instances where a trace requires analysis of the entire payload with packets exceeding 1996 bytes in length, we recommend using the IBM CTRACE facility.
