Issue/Introduction
Trap Storm of 30,000 traps per minute caused the spectroserver.exe to crash.
Cause
Spectrum Server is overloaded by excessive incoming traps.
Environment
Component : Spectrum Core / SpectroSERVER
Resolution
Trap Storm of 30,000 traps per minute caused the spectroserver.exe to crash.
There are many factors involved but typically a SS can handle 300-500 traps per second sustained for 1-2 hours until the process get overloaded and cannot keep up.
Sustained traps of 30,000 per minute would indicate a second landscape is required to distribute the load more evenly.
