SM: Service Management Components with Mixed Release versions

Article ID: 187480

Updated On:

CA Service Management - Asset Portfolio Management CA Service Management - Service Desk Manager CA Service Catalog

This article addresses the question if the various components in Service Management may be installed at differing levels, ie, can ITAM be updated to a different version and than Service Desk and Service Catalog.

Release : 17.1

Component : CA Asset Portfolio Management

Resolution installation releases within a given Service Management implementation is supported, but with the following caveats:

  • We generally advise that all components within a given Service Management Implementation be retained at the same major and minor version, ie all components are at 17.1 or 17.2.  This is due to the challenges in testing for all possible integration scenarios across different minor releases

  • Support cautions to perform all necessary testing for a given site functionality requirements in a non-production instance of the environment prior to attempting in production.

  • Before going to production with such an upgrade or implementation, perform all necessary backups of the environment and have a strong rollback procedure in the event of any unforeseen issues.
