Issue/Introduction

Error Seen:

Error loading view setting for the dialog - get property operation returned empty data set.

When viewing system logs, the following vertica error can be seen:

Caused by: com.vertica.support.exceptions.ErrorException: [Vertica][VJDBC](5927) INTERNAL: Invalid amount of memory for victim node: -8400896 bytes.  Are resource pools on this system configured incorrectly?

Resolution

1. Check Vertica to see if it is running
2. Check the vertica.log's size, is it excessive in size (GB+)
3. Are you running out of drive space for the database?

To resolve this problem the database needed to be stopped using the Stop Vertica on Host command in adminTools followed by deleting the vertica.log which was at 34 GB in size and caused the mount point to have only 5% free space remaining.  This allowed the database to resume normal functionality
