Issue/Introduction

How to create a New Simple Alert notification for a metric inside Application Performance Management SaaS.

Environment

Application Performance Management SaaS

Resolution

First, select the desired metric:

A new window will be prompted, allowing you to create a metric group and select the Management Module for this new alert, note that the metric group expression will be automatically filled, you do not need to put anything inside it, except for the metric group name and management module that will reside this alert.

Now the Alert creation page will be displayed, you can fill the "Notification Channels" and the "Thresholds" for your Alert:

Now it is time to configure a Policy which will activate the notifications for your desired metric, to do so, go to the main page just after login into our DXI platform and click on the "Settings" at the left panel. You will see:

Click on "Policies", here you need to add a filter matching the metric that you want to receive the notification, in our case we have created a simple alert for the metric:

SuperDomain|PRODA|WAS|wpcell/wpsr41a|WebSpherePMI|connectionPoolModule:PercentUsed

So we will create a filter matching this above metric, click on "+ new Policy", fill the name that you want, select "All Alarms", click on "+" button inside the filter box, scroll down until you find the filter "metric_name", select it, leave as "Equals" and add the metric expression exactly as "Metric View" shows:

Attention to the field "Linked Notification Channels", here you have to add the email channel created inside option "External Connections/Integrations >> Channels" from the DXI settings page.
After the configuration is done, the Policy will be as below.

After all this configuration is done, go to the "Alerts" tab inside "DX Application Performance Management". Beside the alert that you just have created, you can see a box that will display the status of the alert, If it is showing a red box, it means that the alert threshold was crossed and that the alert is activated:

If all are well configured, you should receive a mail like this:
