Clarity : Background Service Unavailable in NSA

Issue/Introduction

Clarity Background service is shown as unavailable in NSA/CSA even though the service is up and running.

Error in beacon-system.log:

runuser: may not be used by non-root users

Environment

Release : Any Supported Release with OS Linux / UNIX

Cause

This is caused by improper permissions and file owners set in the properties.xml

Resolution

1. Validate $NIKU_HOME/config/properties.xml for below line.



2. The user and it's group should be set to the user who is starting and running up the services.

 

Note: If you have set up the user to be niku /non-OS user, such as below:

 

  <os user="niku" group="nikugroup" dbUser="oracle" dbGroup="staff" rootUser="niku" commandPrefix=""/>

 

You may have to reapply all the permissions to:

• Tomcat directory
• Clarity directory (especially tomcat-app-deploy and tomcat-nsa-deploy)
