Issue/Introduction

Introduction:

Sometimes, due to corruption of the CAM installation on a workstation running the CA-ITCM agent, CAM may need to be reinstalled.

This document outlines a simple way to do just a CAM reinstallation without the need to reinstall the whole Client Automation agent.

Question:

How can I reinstall only CAM on a computer with an ITCM Agent already installed?

Environment:

Client Automation (all versions).

Answer:

  • Locate a computer having a healthy CAM installation.
  • An installable version of CAM is present in the following location:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\SC\CAM\installation
  • Copy the installation folder to the same location on the computer where the CAM installation is corrupt:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\SC\CAM\installation
  • Run the program "caminst.exe" with elevation. It can be found in thethe "installation" folder.

After this, CAM should be installed on the computer.

You should be able to camping other computers running CAM and check their status by running 'camstat'.
