Issue/Introduction

Should CCS ZFS filesystem (CAW0ZFS1) be shared across LPARs?

The ZFS filesystem was created as a required ACTION for RO96371 PTF. As I implement this READ-ONLY filesystem, is BEST Practice to create separate filesystems for each LPAR or to share a single one?

Environment

Release : 14.1
Release : 15.0

Component : CCS390 - CA COMMON SERVICES FOR Z/OS

Resolution

In general, the SMP/E Target zFS is not used as a runtime library. But much of this depends on what component is actually required as many of the components that are installed into zFS filesystems have deployment jobs that create a runtime filesystem. For example, the ESM Microservice delivers new ESMDEPLOY and ESMMOUNT jobs with PTF SO09997. Review the documentation for deployment related jobs for these services that utilize zFS filesystems.
